Convert Mexican bank statements to Excel or CSV

Mexican banks issue the monthly estado de cuenta as a PDF, and spreadsheet exports are usually limited to recent movements. BankConv converts the estado de cuenta PDF into Excel, CSV or Google Sheets, one row per movement, ready for CONTPAQi, Alegra or your own reconciliation.

Not on the list? Upload the statement anyway: BankConv reads any statement's transaction table, not a fixed set of layouts.

How Mexican bank statements work

The estado de cuenta is usually monthly and downloaded as a PDF from online banking or the app. Many banks also issue it as a fiscal document with a CFDI (the XML that SAT recognises), which can back up commissions and interest.

  • PDF: the full list of movements for the period and the document accountants and lenders ask for.
  • CFDI XML: fiscal data, not a transaction table you can import.
  • Exports: some banks let you download recent movements as a spreadsheet, usually for a short window only.

Software used in Mexico

Contadores commonly use CONTPAQi (Contabilidad and Bancos), Alegra and Aspel COI, and many reconcile in Excel. Most accept a CSV or Excel file with fecha, concepto, cargo and abono through their bank import. Download Excel for review or CSV for importing.

What to check when converting

Mexican statements are day first and often use Spanish month abbreviations.

Check What to look for
Date order DD/MM/AAAA, day first
Month names Dates like 15/ENE or 15 MAR may need converting to real dates
Decimals Mexico uses a decimal point (1,234.56); a spreadsheet set to Spain uses decimal commas, so check the locale
Columns Cargos (out) and abonos (in), plus saldo
Currency The $ sign means pesos; USD accounts produce separate statements

After converting, check the totals yourself: saldo anterior + abonos − cargos should equal the saldo final in the summary.

Mexico bank statement questions

Can I convert an estado de cuenta PDF to Excel?

Yes. Upload the PDF and download Excel, CSV or Google Sheets. Each movement becomes a row with fecha, concepto, cargo or abono and saldo.

Is the estado de cuenta the same as the CFDI?

Not quite. Many banks issue the estado de cuenta as a fiscal document with a CFDI XML, but the XML is for SAT purposes, not a list of movements you can import. Use the PDF for that.

Can I import the result into CONTPAQi or Alegra?

Yes, as a CSV or Excel file through their bank import. BankConv does not create CONTPAQi- or Alegra-specific files, so map fecha, concepto, cargo and abono yourself.
