Convert HSBC México statements to Excel or CSV

HSBC México shows the last 12 months of estados de cuenta electrónicos, counted from the date you activated them, under Administrar in Banca por Internet or in the app. Pick the PDF rather than the XML, which is a fiscal file. BankConv converts the PDF into Excel, CSV or Google Sheets, and cards and accounts arrive as separate statements.

Do you need to convert at all?

HSBC México Banca por Internet lets you download each estado de cuenta electrónico as a PDF or an XML file, and the HSBC México app shows statements for debit accounts and credit cards. Movements can be reviewed online for up to 12 months.

Banca por Internet and the app show up to the last 12 months, and in Banca por Internet only from the date you activated electronic statements. Older statements have to be requested at a branch. You need an active Token Móvil to download.

What to know about HSBC México PDFs

The 12-month window starts at activation
Banca por Internet only keeps statements from the date you switched on electronic statements, up to 12 months back. If you activated the service recently, earlier months won't be there yet; HSBC sends you to a branch for older ones. Download each month while it is still online.
PDF for rows, XML for fiscal records
The download screen offers PDF or Archivo XML. The XML is the fiscal version of the statement and doesn't open as a usable table of movements. Choose PDF to convert, and keep the XML for your accountant if they need it.
Cards and accounts come as separate statements
Each debit account, credit card and credit has its own estado de cuenta, chosen in the first filter. A credit card statement lists purchases and payments, not deposits and withdrawals, so convert cards and accounts into separate files.
Dates and SPEI lines
Movement dates usually print without the year, which comes from the statement period. SPEI transfers often add reference or tracking-key lines under the description; check that they stayed with the right movement.

Converting an HSBC México estado de cuenta

Download the PDF, not the XML. The PDF estado de cuenta is usually a text-based file, so the movements table converts row for row, with amounts in pesos (MXN) using a decimal point. Summary pages and notices are not movements, so remove any of their lines that end up in the rows.

  1. Download the PDF estados de cuenta from Banca por Internet or the HSBC México app.
  2. Upload them to BankConv, up to 10 at a time.
  3. Check the rows, then export Excel or CSV.

What to check

Look for the account summary near the start of the statement, with the saldo anterior, totals and saldo final. Use it to check the conversion yourself.

  • Sum the charges and credits and compare them with the summary totals.
  • Check that saldo anterior + abonos − cargos = saldo final. With a saldo anterior of 15,200.00, the sample rows above end at 18,634.50.
  • Add the year to each date, especially on statements that cross into January.
  • On a credit card statement, check that payments and purchases have opposite signs before you total them.

To load the rows into CONTPAQi or Alegra, import the CSV through their bank movements import. Files are deleted after 24 hours; see security. Other Mexican banks are on the Mexican banks page.
