Convert Truist statements to Excel or CSV
Truist keeps deposit account statements online for up to 7 years under Documents, though its CSV download reaches recent activity only. Older statements may use a BB&T or SunTrust layout. Truist online banking usually lets you download recent transactions from the account's transaction list, with CSV as the spreadsheet format.

What to know about Truist PDFs
- Activity grouped by type
- Truist checking statements usually list deposits and credits, checks, and other withdrawals and debits in separate sections, followed by a daily balance summary. Rows come out grouped the same way, so sort by date for one chronological list.
- Older statements may be BB&T or SunTrust
- Truist formed from BB&T and SunTrust, and accounts moved to Truist systems in 2021–2022. Statements from before your account's conversion may carry the old bank's layout and name. Convert them the same way, but check the column order separately.
- Dates without a year
- Truist usually prints dates like 09/02, without the year. Add it from the statement period; a December statement that runs into January is where it usually goes wrong.
Truist statements are usually text-based PDFs and tend to convert without trouble. The two things to watch are how activity is grouped and which bank’s layout an older statement uses.
How to get Truist transactions as CSV
Truist’s transaction download covers recent activity; for older months, convert the PDF statements.
- Recent activity: in Truist online banking, open the account and look for a download or export option near the transaction list. Choose CSV and a date range.
- Older months: open Documents, save each monthly PDF, upload them to BankConv (up to 10 at a time), and export CSV or Excel.
Lenders and accountants usually want full statements, and the PDF shows the opening and closing balance.
What to check after converting
Check the result against the totals Truist prints.
- Section totals: add up deposits and withdrawals and compare them with the account summary.
- Daily balances: pick two or three dates and confirm your running total matches the daily balance summary.
- Checks: confirm each check number and amount, since checks often print in a separate block.
- Mixed layouts: if you convert both BB&T or SunTrust and Truist statements, line up the columns before you combine them.
