  4. 4.Or open the monthly e-statement email from HDFC Bank and save the PDF attachment.
  5. 5.Upload the PDF to BankConv. You can drop up to 10 statements in one batch.

Do you need to convert at all?

HDFC NetBanking can show a statement for a date range you choose and usually offers it as PDF, Excel (XLS) or delimited text. If you need a recent period from your own login, that export may be enough.

The monthly e-statements HDFC emails arrive as PDFs only. PDFs from a client, older statements you saved earlier, and branch-issued statements also need converting.

What to know about HDFC Bank PDFs

Seven columns, two dates per row
HDFC savings and current account statements usually print Date, Narration, Chq./Ref.No., Value Dt, Withdrawal Amt., Deposit Amt. and Closing Balance. Use Date for your books. Value Dt is when the funds were credited or debited for interest, and it can differ by a day.
Narrations run over two or three lines
UPI, NEFT and IMPS narrations often wrap onto extra lines, for example UPI-SWIGGY-... followed by a reference on the next line. Each wrapped narration should stay in one row. Count a page of rows against the PDF to confirm nothing split.
Long reference numbers in Excel
The Chq./Ref.No. column holds 12 to 16 digit references. If you open a CSV straight in Excel, it can show them as 1.23E+11 and drop digits after the 15th. Use the Excel download, or import the CSV through Data > From Text/CSV and set that column to Text.
Dates are DD/MM/YY
HDFC prints dates day first, often with a two-digit year. A US-locale Excel can read 03/04/26 as 4 March. Check a date late in the month, such as the 25th, to confirm the column parsed the right way.

HDFC bank statement password

A statement you download from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank app is locked with your Customer ID (CustID), the numeric user ID you use to log in to NetBanking. For example, if your Customer ID is 12345678, the password is 12345678. HDFC’s NetBanking FAQ states this directly.

For the monthly e-statement HDFC emails you, the password rule is given in the email that delivers the statement. If it isn’t clear, HDFC Bank customer care can confirm it.

BankConv asks for the password only when the PDF has one, uses it once to open the file and never stores it.

HDFC bank statement PDF to Excel: step by step

Upload the PDF, enter the password if prompted, then choose the format. Each HDFC transaction becomes one row with its date, narration, amounts and closing balance.

  1. Go to the converter at the top of this page or bank statement to Excel.
  2. Drop in one PDF or up to 10 at once, up to 30 MB each.
  3. Enter the PDF password when asked.
  4. Check the rows, then download Excel, CSV or Google Sheets.
BankConv asks for the PDF password only when the HDFC statement is locked.

Check the converted statement

Check the totals yourself before you rely on the file. It takes two minutes.

  • Balance check: opening balance + total deposits − total withdrawals should equal the closing balance printed in the statement summary.
  • Row count: HDFC prints the count of debits and credits in the statement summary. Compare it with your rows.
  • Amounts are numbers: in Excel, amounts should right-align. Left-aligned amounts are text and won’t sum.

HDFC statements in Tally and Zoho Books

BankConv exports Excel, CSV and Google Sheets, not Tally XML. Most CAs bring the Excel file into Tally one of three ways:

  • TallyPrime bank reconciliation: look for the import option on the bank reconciliation screen. Which bank layouts it accepts depends on your Tally release.
  • An Excel-to-Tally utility: map Date, Narration, Withdrawal and Deposit to Payment and Receipt vouchers.
  • Zoho Books: open the bank account under Banking, choose Import Statement and upload the CSV.

HDFC Bank statement questions

What is the password for my HDFC Bank statement PDF?

For a statement downloaded from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank app, the password is your Customer ID, the numeric user ID you log in to NetBanking with, for example 12345678. For the monthly emailed e-statement, follow the password instructions in the email that came with it, or ask HDFC Bank customer care to confirm.

Can I convert an HDFC statement to Excel for free?

Yes, for a short one. Your first 5 pages convert free with no signup, and a free account (needed to download) gives you 5 pages a day. Longer statements are priced per document, or covered by a monthly plan; the pricing page has the rates.

Does BankConv keep the UPI and NEFT details?

Yes. The full narration comes through in one cell, including UPI IDs, NEFT and IMPS references and counterparty names, so you can search and match them in Excel.

Does BankConv store my HDFC PDF password?

No. The password is used once to open the file and is never stored. BankConv never connects to your HDFC account and never asks for your NetBanking login.

Can I import the converted HDFC statement into Tally?

BankConv gives you Excel or CSV, not a Tally file. You can bring that sheet into TallyPrime with its bank statement import or an Excel-to-Tally utility, as explained above.
