Convert Scotiabank statements to Excel or CSV

Personal Scotiabank accounts have no full CSV export, so past months live only in the PDF eStatements under Accounts, then Documents. BankConv converts those eStatements into Excel, CSV or Google Sheets, with amounts withdrawn, amounts deposited and balance kept apart.

Download your Scotiabank eStatement

  1. 1.Sign in to Scotiabank online banking (scotiabank.com) on a computer.
  2. 2.Open your Accounts page and select the bank account.
  3. 3.Select Documents, then choose the eStatement you want.
  4. 4.Download or save the PDF.

Do you need to convert at all?

Personal online banking may let you download recent account activity, but there is no full-statement CSV export. Business clients on ScotiaConnect usually get transaction exports in formats such as CSV, QFX and QBO.

Recent activity only, and the options differ between personal online banking and ScotiaConnect. Statements go back up to 7 years as PDF.

What to know about Scotiabank PDFs

Withdrawn and deposited in two columns
Statements usually split amounts into Amounts withdrawn ($) and Amounts deposited ($), with no signs. Keep both, or build one signed Amount column (deposited minus withdrawn) for import.
Descriptions on two lines
A transaction often shows its type on one line (such as MB-Bill payment or Point of sale purchase) and the payee or merchant on the next. Check that both lines ended up in one Description cell.
Dates without a year
Dates usually print as short month and day, such as Mar 3. The year comes from the statement period, so check rows on a December–January statement.

Converting Scotiabank eStatements

Scotiabank eStatements are generally text-based PDFs, with each transaction ending up as a row. Because personal accounts lack a full CSV export, the PDF is usually the only way to get past months into a spreadsheet.

  1. Download the PDF eStatements from Accounts, then Documents.
  2. Upload them to BankConv.
  3. Check the rows, then export Excel, CSV or Google Sheets.

What to check

The opening and closing balances on the statement are your check figures. Work through these before you import, because fixing a wrong row in accounting software takes longer than fixing it in a spreadsheet.

  • Sum Amounts withdrawn and Amounts deposited, excluding the opening balance line.
  • Confirm opening balance + deposits − withdrawals = closing balance.
  • Spot-check a few two-line descriptions against the PDF.
  • Add the year to every date.

If you have a line of credit or savings account too, each has its own eStatement. Convert them separately so rows from different accounts stay apart.

For QuickBooks Online, see QuickBooks import. Files are deleted after 24 hours; see security. Other banks are on the Canadian banks page.

Scotiabank statement questions

Can I download a Scotiabank statement as CSV?

Not the statement itself. Personal online banking may offer recent activity as a download, but eStatements are PDF. Convert the PDF in BankConv to get CSV or Excel.

How far back can I get Scotiabank eStatements?

Scotiabank says online banking gives access to up to 7 years of account statements. Download each PDF and upload up to 10 at a time.

Does this work for Scotiabank business statements?

Yes. BankConv reads the table on the page, so business statements convert the same way. ScotiaConnect users can also export recent transactions directly.
