Convert Monzo statements to Excel or CSV
If you have the Monzo app, you usually don't need a converter. Monzo lets you export transactions as PDF, CSV or QIF for a date range you choose. Convert the PDF only when that's all you have, for example a statement a client, tenant or applicant sent you.
Updated
Download your Monzo bank statement
- 1.Open the Monzo app and tap the three dots on your card.
- 2.Tap Bank statements.
- 3.Choose the date range, then choose PDF (or CSV if you want a spreadsheet directly).
- 4.Save or share the file. To convert PDFs, upload up to 10 in one BankConv batch.
Do you need to convert at all?
The Monzo app exports your transactions, including Pots, as PDF, CSV or QIF for a date range you choose. Monzo Business usually exports from the web.
You need access to the account. If someone sends you a PDF statement, the CSV export isn't available to you, so convert the PDF.

What to know about Monzo PDFs
- Pot transfers show as transactions
- Moving money into or out of a Pot usually appears as its own line on the statement. For bookkeeping, these are transfers between your own accounts, not spending or income, so tag them before you total anything.
- One signed Amount column
- Monzo statements usually show a single Amount column, with payments out as negative numbers and money in as positive. That suits most accounting imports. If you need separate money out and money in columns, split it in your spreadsheet.
- The CSV and the PDF don't match column for column
- Monzo's CSV export usually carries extra fields, such as category, notes and the amount in the local currency for spending abroad. The PDF statement keeps to date, description, amount and balance. Use the CSV for budgeting and the PDF when someone wants a statement.
When to convert a Monzo PDF
Most Monzo customers can skip conversion. The app exports CSV for any range you choose, and that file goes straight into a spreadsheet.
Converting the PDF is useful when the PDF is all you have:
- Accountants and bookkeepers: a client sends Monzo statements as PDFs, and you need the rows in Excel or CSV.
- Lenders and letting agents: an applicant shares PDF statements, and you want to total income or rent payments.
- Records you saved earlier: PDFs kept for a tax return or mortgage, where the account is now closed.
Upload the PDFs to BankConv, check the rows and export.
What to check after converting
Monzo PDF statements are usually text-based rather than scanned. Check these before you rely on the numbers:
- Balance: each row’s balance should equal the previous balance plus the amount.
- Pots: mark Pot transfers so they don’t inflate income or spending.
- Date range: confirm the first and last dates match the period the person said they sent.

Monzo statement questions
Can I export Monzo transactions to CSV?
Yes. In the Monzo app, tap the three dots on your card, then Bank statements, choose a date range and pick CSV. You only need BankConv when you have the PDF but not the account.
Why convert a Monzo PDF if Monzo has CSV?
Landlords, lenders and accountants usually receive Monzo statements as PDFs and can't export the CSV themselves. Converting the PDF gives them the rows without asking the account holder for another file.
How do I handle Pot transfers in a converted Monzo statement?
Filter the description for your Pot names and mark those rows as transfers. They move money between your own accounts, so they shouldn't count as spending or income.
