Convert Lloyds Bank statements to Excel or CSV
Lloyds' own export covers recent transactions only, so older months have to come from the PDF statements in Internet Banking. Each statement carries a Type column next to the description, plus money in, money out and a running balance, and BankConv keeps those columns when it converts the PDF to Excel, CSV or Google Sheets.

What to know about Lloyds Bank PDFs
- A Type column with short codes
- Lloyds statements usually include a Type column with codes such as DEB (debit card), DD (direct debit), SO (standing order), FPI and FPO (Faster Payments in and out), BGC (bank giro credit) and CPT (cash machine). Keep it; it makes filtering easy.
- Check which column is money in
- Money in and money out are separate columns, and their order on Lloyds statements isn't the same as on every other UK bank. Before you build a signed amount, check one known payment against the PDF.
- Older and newer layouts differ
- Lloyds has changed its statement design over the years, so a 2019 PDF and a 2026 PDF can look different. Convert a batch from the same period first, then check one older statement on its own.
Converting Lloyds statements
Lloyds PDFs are text-based, so the transaction table converts cleanly. The main job is keeping the Type column and checking money in against money out.
- Download the monthly PDFs from Statements in Internet Banking.
- Upload them to BankConv.
- Check the rows, then export Excel or CSV.
A quick accuracy check
Lloyds prints a summary of money in and money out for the period. Use it to confirm the conversion.
- Sum the Money in and Money out columns and compare them with the summary.
- Confirm the last balance equals the closing balance.
- Spot-check one row of each Type code.
UK dates are day first, so check that your software reads 03/04 as 3 April, not 4 March.
For accounting software, see QuickBooks import or importing a bank statement into Xero. If you need OFX, download OFX from BankConv instead of CSV. Banking with NatWest as well? The same checks apply there.

What does FPI or BGC mean on a Lloyds statement?
FPI is a Faster Payment in and FPO a Faster Payment out. BGC is a bank giro credit, which often means a salary or a payment from a business.
Does this work for Halifax statements too?
