Convert KeyBank statements to Excel or CSV

KeyBank's own transaction download is a Quicken (QFX) file, not a spreadsheet, and its public help pages don't describe a CSV option for personal accounts. PDF statements in Doc Hub go back up to seven years, and BankConv turns them into Excel, CSV or Google Sheets. Pick the right statement type in Doc Hub, and note that checks appear as numbers rather than payees.

Download your KeyBank statement

  1. 1.Sign on to KeyBank online banking.
  2. 2.Click Doc Hub at the top right of the screen.
  3. 3.Find the account and the statement month in your statement history, and download the PDF. The statement opens in a new browser window, so check behind the online banking window if nothing seems to happen.
  4. 4.Repeat for each month you need.

Do you need to convert at all?

KeyBank says you can import transactions into Quicken or QuickBooks Desktop with Web Connect or a Quicken File eXchange (QFX) file, or link accounts through Express Web Connect and QuickBooks Online bank feeds. Its public help pages don't describe a CSV download for personal accounts.

KeyBank doesn't state the date range of the QFX download on its public pages. PDF statements stay online for up to seven years.

What to know about KeyBank PDFs

Checks show as numbers, not payees
Checks you write usually appear on the statement by check number and amount, without the payee. KeyBank lets you view images of written checks in online banking once they clear, so use those to fill in who each check paid.
Many statement types in Doc Hub
KeyBank keeps checking, savings, loan, line of credit, trust and credit card statements, plus tax forms, in the same place. Make sure you save the deposit account statements, since a credit card statement reads charges and payments the other way round.
Dates without a year
Transaction dates usually print as MM/DD, with the year taken from the statement period. Check rows on a December–January statement before you sort.

Statements from KeyBank’s Doc Hub are usually text-based PDFs, so reading the rows is rarely the problem. The details to watch are checks listed by number and choosing the right statement type in Doc Hub.

How to get KeyBank transactions as CSV

KeyBank’s own download is built for Quicken and QuickBooks Desktop; for a spreadsheet, convert the PDF statements.

  1. Quicken or QuickBooks Desktop: use Web Connect or download a QFX file from online banking.
  2. CSV or Excel: open Doc Hub, save each monthly PDF, upload them to BankConv (up to 10 at a time), and export CSV or Excel.

The PDF route also gives you the opening and closing balance, which lenders and accountants ask for.

What to check after converting

Use the figures KeyBank prints to confirm the result.

  • Balance check: opening balance plus the sum of all amounts should equal the closing balance.
  • Checks: count the check rows and compare with the checks listed on the PDF, then add payees from the check images.
  • Transfers: if you also convert the savings statement, count each transfer between accounts only once.

For QuickBooks, see importing into QuickBooks. For more banks, see the US bank guides.
